Leslie Jones thinks bigly, auditions to play Trump

Hey, Lorne, Leslie Jones is just trying to show you some range. (Photo: Will Heath/NBC)

If those stories about Donald Trump being upset about a senior staffer being played by a woman last week are true, he’s really not going to like this week’s SNL.

See, Melissa McCarthy’s hilarious sendup of Sean Spicer got Leslie Jones thinking: Surely, Alec Baldwin isn’t going to stick around to play the president for four years. So why not her?

She headed to the hair and makeup room to get into character.

After practicing her Trumpisms, she took her case to producer Lorne Michaels, who shut her down in short order. (See, he doesn’t seem to like it when people campaign to be on the show. Ask Rosie O’Donnell, who offered to play Steve Bannon).

Let’s just say the rejection did not sit will with Jones.
